Parkmerced Townhouse.

Parkmerced Townhouse. Interior Design. Rosania Residence.

Back in 2012, on a Sunday afternoon I was driving my daughter Joy to the San Francisco Airport so she could catch the plane to London where she lives. A call came in while I was almost at the Airport and the caller GT was asking me to stop by and see their Town house at Parkmerced, in San Francisco.

Hence I thought as this locatation is on the way to the airport, I suggested I stop by that evening on my way back home, and so I did. The meeting was very successful, as a result I would get my deposit to start for 10,000.00 the next day. They were serious.

I met Robert Rosania and his girlfriend  GT, they wanted the downstairs level design and done, only the public spaces as another San Francisco Interior Designer Orlando Diaz, had already done the upstairs.

I didn’t think to ask why they were changing designers, nor did I visit the upstairs at that time, therefore I didn’t know it was completed. And as Mr. Diaz was a well know designer, that added to my confort with the clients.

The Parkmerced complex was developed after the second world war and consists of a number of midrise towers and townhouses. The Towers of Ocean Views, therefore were very desirable at the time, likewise the Townhouses had a California Regency style elevations, somewhat appealing furthermore attractive.

The Floor Plan

The Floor Plan consists on a Living-TV area, like a family room, an open Kitchen, a dining and seating booth area, and in contrast the services core area, a powder room, a laundry closet and a staircase.

First of all we didn’t plan the kitchen area at all. It already had 2 full height SubZero wine refrigerators for a serious selection of wines.

Consequently credibility was not an issue. I thought probably the project would be completed as a result. Even more so I new I could design and specify very high-end.

Furthermore the smaller the place and certainly the need to do something outstanding took me to the Glass Staircase.

I had no idea until a few days ago, that while I was designing this unit, there were plans to demolish all Townhouses, as a result that this was only a pleasure or distraction while the client was refinancing a Billion dollar project the densify the area.

Parkmerced Townhouse. The Glass Staircase.

The Glass Staircase was very special so we will focus on it next. Consequently it had to be done rather perfectly.

First of all the Glass staircase would add visual space, make the room look bigger, then add drama and a sense of Elegance, Quality and High-Tech.

The glass staircase would house the home office underneath, desk, desktop PC, printer and Cigar Humidor, because these were identified needs..

The Powder room first of all had to be as outstanding as the rest of the Staircase core. We choose a single slab floor, and a malachite wallpaper, in contrast with the Pink resin Vanity.
